WHY US

Funding should reach the businesses it was created for

Alena Bairak, founder of Grants To Go

My story

I have spent my professional life turning plans into numbers and numbers into decisions. I built budgets and development plans in planning-economics and economic-analysis departments — in companies from very small to very large, from business aviation to the chemical industry. If one thing defined my work, it was this: organizing and planning the financial side of real businesses.

And everywhere I worked, I saw the same thing: money is always the bottleneck. Good projects wait because "it's not in this year's budget." Meanwhile, a whole world of grant funding exists — money you don't repay and don't give equity for. But this market works incoherently. Businesses either don't know grants exist at all, or discover them by accident — from an acquaintance, a stray news item. And once they do, they usually have no idea how to approach one: whether they qualify, where to start, what an application even requires. So the money goes to those with grant departments and consultants on call — while small businesses and startups, the very companies these programmes were created for, stay on the sidelines.

That felt wrong enough to fix. So I built Grants To Go.

What I believe

Most companies live by "have → do → be": once we have the money, we'll do the development, and then we'll be a serious company. And they get stuck, because the money never comes first.

I built this platform on the opposite principle: be → do → have. First, be — a company that genuinely qualifies: the platform shows you only those grants. Then do — the application: with AI and experts, it stops being an art for the initiated. And then have — funding you never pay back.

Being shapes consciousness. When a small business gets access to the same money as corporations, the very scale of what it allows itself to think about changes. We change the access — the ambition grows on its own.
